During the meeting, the defense needs of Ukraine, the creation of a special tribunal to prosecute Russian criminals and the need to direct Russian assets to Ukrainian reconstruction were discussed.

The head of state expressed gratitude for the fact that the American Congressmen visited Ukraine to see with their own eyes the consequences of Russian aggression.

“This is a very powerful signal. Yesterday – President Biden’s visit, today – a meeting with you. I believe this is very important evidence that the United States supports Ukraine,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.

According to the Office of the President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed Congressmen in detail about the situation on the front lines and the crimes committed by Russian troops.

“I have just been informed that Kherson was shelled once again. People died again. We need weapons to stop these crimes,” said the President of Ukraine.

At the senators’ request, Volodymyr Zelenskyy briefly informed about the priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in weapons and military equipment.

“The President emphasized the importance of recognizing Russia as a state responsible for the campaign of terror against civilians, the need to establish a special tribunal for the crime of Russian aggression against Ukraine and to direct the frozen Russian assets to rebuild our country,” explained the Office of the President of Ukraine.
