43 criminal proceedings related to sexual crimes committed by Russian troops against the civilian population of Ukraine have been opened.

“Today, the activities of the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine are aimed at documenting all war crimes committed by the Russian Federation. Among them are sexual crimes against the civilian population of Ukraine. 43 criminal proceedings have already been opened, among them are those with repeated episodes or several victims,” said the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

Kateryna Pavlichenko said that the National Police of Ukraine had created specialized police mobile groups to detect exclusively cases of sexual violence in the liberated territories and thanks to their work, it was possible to collect a lot of testimonies about such crimes.

“Such investigations have their specificity due to the fact that people often do not want to talk about this type of crime,” added the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
