Ukraine’s police open about 300 cases every day on the facts of Russian war crimes in Ukraine

The Head of the Department of Organizational Analytical Support and Operational Response of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksiy Sergeev noted on January 12, 2023, that employees of the National Police of Ukraine every day open about 300 criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes committed by servicemen of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.

“Over the past two weeks, the police have documented 4,000 war crimes committed on the territory of Ukraine by servicemen of the Russian Federation and their accomplices. Up to 300 such criminal proceedings are registered every day,” said the Head of the Department of Organizational Analytical Support and Operational Response of the National Police of Ukraine.

According to the official, the total number of criminal proceedings in this category since the beginning of the invasion has reached 58,000. Most of them are registered under Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violations of the laws and customs of war) — more than 46 thousand of them, and Art. 110 of the Criminal Code (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) — 9,200 criminal cases.

Oleksiy Sergeev emphasized that the National Police paid special attention to documenting the facts of collaborative activities. In the past two weeks, the National Police of Ukraine has documented 56 such criminal offenses, bringing the total amount since the start of the full-scale invasion to 2,300.
