“The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recognized the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria as temporarily occupied by Russia! The Parliament also condemned the genocide of the Chechen people,” said the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Oleksiy Honcharenko.

According to Oleksiy Honcharenko, this is an extremely important decision, since Russian President Vladimir Putin has been trying to enslave the Chechen people for a long time.

287 People’s Deputies voted for the relevant resolution. Thus, Ukraine does not recognize Russia’s occupation of the territory of Ichkeria and considers the existing regime in this territory to be an occupation.

“He [Russian President – ed.] put his puppet Ramzan Kadyrov in charge, and now he forces the Chechens to fight against the Ukrainians. This is a typical imperialist policy of Russia towards other nations. Russia must be decolonized, and Ichkeria must be free,” added the People’s Deputy of Ukraine.

Uaposition memo: Russia occupied Ichkeria in 2000 after a military invasion. Currently, the territory is “included” in Russia.
