Ukraine, several other countries join EU sanctions against Russia

Ukraine and several other European countries that are not members of the EU have joined restrictive measures against Russia, the European External Action Service has told a Ukrinform correspondent.
According to the report, on September 8, 2014, the EU Council decided to strengthen restrictive measures regarding Russia’s access to EU financial markets. The candidate countries for EU membership – Montenegro, Iceland, Albania and Ukraine – joined this decision. They confirmed the compliance of their national policies with this decision by the EU Council, reads the report.
Moreover, Ukraine, Montenegro, Iceland, Albania, Liechtenstein and Norway joined expanded EU sanctions, which foresee the freezing of assets of individuals and entities involved in encroachment on Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence.
