Ukraine reduces wholesale market price of electricity

The National Energy and Utility Regulation Commission (NEURC) has lowered the forecasted wholesale market price of electricity for 2017 by 15.2%, to UAH 1,285 per 1 MWh.

The relevant decision was unanimously adopted at the NEURC meeting Tuesday.

”It is proposed to reduce the wholesale market price by 10% from January 1, and by 5.8% from April 1, so the price in 2017 will decrease by 15.2%,” Head of the National Energy and Utility Regulation Commission Dmytro Vovk said.

According to the document, from January 1, NEURC will lower the wholesale market price of electricity by 10% – from the current price of UAH 1,490 per 1 MWh to UAH 1,342 per 1 MWh. In addition, from April 1, the commission will lower the price by 5.8% to UAH 1,264 per 1 MWh, which will generally reduce the current price in 2017 by 15.2%, to UAH 1,285 per 1 MWh.

At the same time, the price in the third and fourth quarter will remain at the level of UAH 1,264 per 1 MWh.
