Ukraine reduces gas imports ten times in July

Ukraine has reduced natural gas imports in July to 221 million cubic meters, 10 times less than in the same period last year, PJSC Ukrtransgas said in a statement.
At the same time, for the period from January to July of this year from abroad Ukraine has imported 14.72 billion cubic meters, 18% up than in the same period in 2013. The entire volume of gas imported in July for the needs of Ukraine came from Poland and Hungary, and was 118 and 103 million cubic meters, respectively.
On June 16 the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom cut off gas supplies to Ukraine, making NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine to prepay for the purchases of energy resources, as well as putting the requirement to immediately repay the debt in the amount of $ 1.951 billion, which forced Ukraine to shift to reverse supplies of Russian gas from Europe.
