Ukraine reduces gas consumption by almost 13% in 1H 2016

Ukraine has dropped consumption of natural gas in January-June 2016 by 12.5% year-over-year from 18.4 bcm to 16.1 billion cubic meters, according to Ukrtransgaz, the operator of the country`s gas transportation system.
The company also reported that the consumption of gas in the country amounted to 1 bcm in June.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukraine in 2015 reduced the consumption of natural gas as compared to 2014 by 20.9% – down to 33.727 bcm. The State Agency for Energy Efficiency forecasts a 15% decline in natural gas consumption in 2016 yoy.
According to the former energy minister, Volodymyr Demchyshyn, Ukraine planned to reduce imports of natural gas in 2016 compared to 2015 by 20-30% – from 16.4 bcm to 11-13 bcm.
