The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted on April 26, 2023, that Italian Skynex short-range air defense systems are already on combat duty in Ukraine.

“Today I visited the Italian defense company Rheinmetall Italia S.p.A., which specializes in the production of modern air defense systems. Among its developments is the Skynex short-range air defense system. We need such an effective weapon to protect against the drones which Russia is using to attack Ukraine. This will save dozens of lives and critical infrastructure for millions of people. Such batteries are already on combat duty in Ukraine,” said the Prime Minister of Ukraine.
Denys Shmyhal also noted that Ukraine and Italy are discussing the possibility of joint production of these air defense systems.
“We are also considering the possibility of joint production of components of these systems. We are working to have more such effective air defense systems,” the Head of the Ukrainian Government added.
