During the occupation (from February 24, 2022, to April 2, 2022), the Russian army committed more than 9,000 war crimes in the Bucha district of the Kyiv region, more than 1,700 civilians were killed, and approximately 700 of them in Bucha.

So far, 91 Russian soldiers involved in these crimes have been identified. Work is ongoing to bring all those involved to justice.

“After the liberation, we discovered mass burials with the mutilated bodies of men, women, and children. Torture, murder, sexual violence. This is the true face of the “Russian peace” and the regime of the Russian Federation, which is based on complete disregard for the principles of human rights and humanitarian law,” noted Andriy Kostin.

The Prosecutor General thanked the Congressmen for the position of the USA regarding the sovereignty, territorial integrity and freedom of Ukraine.

“We count on support in the creation of the international tribunal to bring the leadership of the Russian Federation to justice. Justice for the victims of the war is justice for the world,” concluded Andriy Kostin.
