Ukraine fulfills grain exports contract with China

Ukraine has fulfilled contract by delivering grain to China.
Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Oleksiy Pavlenko made the statement, the press service of the ministry has reported.
“The contract between Ukraine, represented by the state food and grain corporation, and China for supply of Ukrainian grain is completed,” the minister said.
He said that 11contracts signed with China were on the verge of logistical default “because of unprofessional and incomprehensible actions made by the previous management of state corporation”, but commitments to the Chinese partners were successfully implemented.
According to the official, the situation with loading 11 ships for China with a total volume of grain more than 600 thousand tonnes was still critical as of December 15, 2014. “Corn was still located in Ukrainian elevators. On Christmas eve, it was extremely difficult to transport it to the port, given the limitations of logistics, lack of trucks and adverse weather conditions,” he said.
However, despite all these difficulties, ten ships have been shipped with capacity of about 550 thousand tonnes, their bills of lading given to Chinese before December 31, 2014. “Thus, ten contracts were completed. The eleventh contract was put off for a later date by consent of the parties,” the official said.
According to him, after Ukraine successfully completed the export section of the Chinese contract, the possibility of the second part becomes available dealing with import of Chinese products for Ukrainian farmers’ needs.
