Exports of Ukrainian farm produce in January-October 2016 amounted to $11.8 billion, which accounted for 40.7% in total national exports, according to the of Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry`s press service, which cites the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
Cereals ($4.8 billion), fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin ($3.1 billion), ready-to-eat foods ($1.8 billion) accounted for the largest share of Ukrainian exports, it said.
At the same time, imports of farm produce in Ukraine for the period under review totaled $3.1 billion, which accounted for 9.9% of national imports. Key import products were vegetables ($1 billion) and ready-to-eat foods ($1.4 billion).
The surplus of Ukraine`s foreign trade in agricultural produce in the 10 months of 2016 was estimated at $8.7 billion.
The press service recalled that farm produce exports from Ukraine in 2015 totaled $14.6 billion (38.1% of total national exports). The main export-oriented products were grain and sunflower oil.
Imports for the period under review totaled $3.5 billion (9.3% of national imports).
The trade surplus in this segment of products was estimated at $11 billion.
