Ukraine and Croatia agreed to strengthen cooperation within the framework of UNESCO

The First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the head of the Ukrainian National Commission on UNESCO Emine Dzhaparova and the Minister of Culture and Media of Croatia Nina Obuljen Koržinek discussed the cooperation of the countries within the framework of UNESCO on March 17, 2023.

During the visit to Kyiv, Nina Obuljen Koržinek discussed with Emine Dzhaparova the cooperation of Ukraine and Croatia within the framework of UNESCO, the need to expel Russia from the UN system, the impact of the war on culture and education in Ukraine.

“I consider it unacceptable that Russia still remains a member of such a respected organization as UNESCO and its governing and working bodies. We count on Croatia’s support for Ukrainian initiatives to expel the aggressor state from the UN system,” stressed the head of the Ukrainian National Commission on UNESCO.

Emine Dzhaparova also informed about the destruction of Ukrainian cultural heritage and educational institutions as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

In turn, the Minister of Culture and Media of Croatia shared her country’s experience in cooperation with UNESCO regarding the protection and post-war restoration of national and world heritage sites.
