Ukraine and 7 countries have joined the 8th package of EU sanctions against Russia

EU High Representative Josep Borrell noted on October 13, 2022, that North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, as well as Ukraine joined the October decision of the EU Council to introduce another package of sanctions against Russia.

“The candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Ukraine, the potential candidate country Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the EFTA countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, align themselves with this Council Decision.”

It is noted that these 8 countries will ensure that their national policies are in line with the EU Council decision of 6 October, and the European Union takes into consideration this commitment and welcomes it.

The Council of the European Union approved the decision to introduce a new package of economic and individual sanctions against Russia in response to Russia’s illegal annexation of Ukrainian territories on October 6, 2022.
