“We consider this step [the implementation of the sixth sanctions package against Russia – Ed.] to be very powerful. Despite the fact that the transition to the new conditions will take from 6 to 8 months – eight months for petroleum products and six months for crude oil, – the effect of this decision will become noticeable soon, as a number of member states and private companies have already started to refocus on the new supply sources, without waiting for such sanctions to be approved.”

According to him, Germany is already receiving about two-thirds of oil from other sources instead of Russian.

“Thus, this package of sanctions has been of great importance both in essence and politically, as it has become a powerful trigger for the abandonment of Russian oil right now.”
