On the anniversary of the invasion of Czechoslovakia, which dates back to August 21, 1968, people donated symbolic sums, most often CZK 1,968.

“More than 14,000 people took part in the campaign, and they transferred 24.2 million Czech crowns, which is approximately equivalent to 1 million US dollars, to the charity account of the Ukrainian embassy.”

Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in the Czech Republic Vitaliy Usatyy noted that the Czechs and Slovaks, who survived the experience of the occupation, “are aware of the tragedy of the Ukrainian people who oppose Russian aggression.”

“With the support of our closest friends, which undoubtedly includes the Czech Republic, Ukraine will be able to repel the attack of the aggressor state and protect its right to live in freedom and democracy.”

In total, according to the embassy, the Czechs have transferred more than 1.2 billion Czech crowns to the Ukrainian army since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
