Ukrainian security services have learned through radio intercepts that terrorists are preparing to use chemical weapons to capture the Donetsk airport, the press center for the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) has reported on Facebook.
“After numerous unsuccessful attempts by illegal armed groups to seize the Donetsk airport, which is protected by Ukrainian security forces, terrorists, as one of their last chances, are planning to use chemical weapons, in particular, the Tyulpan mortar and respective chemical ammunition banned by international norms, which may also affect civilians in the region. It should be noted that the said arms and ammunition are not in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations of our country,” the ATO headquarters said.
In addition, the press center predicted that militants, after using such weapons, would accuse the Ukrainian side of losses among the civilian population.
