As a result of the shelling with Smerch rocket launchers on the night of September 4, the base camp of the 12th Kyiv Battalion of territorial defense was destroyed in Dmytrivka, Luhansk region.
Deputy Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Anton Shapoval told a meeting of the Kyiv City Council, a Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“This night, at 2.30 a.m., our base camp was fired with Smerch rocket launchers, there are casualties,” Shapoval said.
He did not mention the exact number of dead and wounded, but noted that the materiel of the battalion was also destroyed, out of five armored vehicles only two remained.
Shapoval stressed that the 12th Kyiv Battalion is the last to withdraw from Luhansk, occupied by terrorists. Prior to that, the soldiers held one of the city districts within a few months.
