SBU to check Yefremov’s and Akhmetov’s involvement in financing separatism

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) is checking the involvement of the leader of the Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada, MP Oleksandr Yefremov, and Ukrainian businessman Rinat Akhmetov in financing terrorists in eastern Ukraine, SBU Deputy Head Viktor Yahun has said on Channel 5, according to RBC-Ukraine.
Yahun said that the reason for such verification was the fact that the plants in Ukraine’s eastern regions owned by these individuals were not exposed to fire from insurgents, in contrast to adjacent facilities.
“We see that a certain plant is not attacked, robbed, so the question arises why a neighboring house was bombed, and that one was not bombed. It’s clear that someone is paying someone. This is actually kind of a business in the war. But need to prove that, and the investigation continues. There are proceedings on the financing of terrorist activities, and information on all personalities named [Yefremov and Akhmetov] is being verified,” Yahun said.
He also said that there were many facts suggesting the involvement of local oligarchs in financing separatism.
