“Unfortunately, one of our colleagues was killed as a result of the Russian attack. Four more were injured. Rescue equipment and the unit’s building were also damaged,” explained the press center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

Russian troops also shelled this fire and rescue unit the day before. The fire department was damaged, and the rescue car was cut by shrapnel.

“Kherson today [on January 5, 2023 – ed. ]. Another blow to the rescuers, who are protected from attacks by international law, but in practice the enemy [the Russian army – ed.] deprives them of this right almost every day. The fire station was damaged, and a car was hit by shrapnel. Fortunately, the personnel were not injured,” added the press center of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
