Russian troops forced 3,000 workers of Ukraine’s nuclear plant to obtain Russian passports

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted on January 7, 2023, that Russian soldiers forced approximately 3,000 workers of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to obtain Russian passports in occupied Enerhodar, Zaporizhzhia region (south of Ukraine).

“Russian troops continue to put psychological and physical pressure on the civilian population of the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. In particular, in the city of Enerhodar in the Zaporizhzhia region, Russian military forced about 3,000 workers of the Zaporizhzhia NPP to obtain so-called Russian passports,” explained the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In addition, according to the General Staff, Ukrainian currency was taken out of circulation in the city of Enerhodar by threatening entrepreneurs with fines and confiscation of property.

The General Staff also reported that the number of residential premises seized by Russian troops and abandoned by internally displaced persons of Ukraine has increased significantly.
