“On September 21, 2022, at 01:13, as a result of another shelling of the Zaporizhzhia NPP by Russian troops, the communication equipment of power unit No. 6 with the open switchgear of the ZNPP was damaged.”

As a result of the attack, the block transformer and transformers of the power unit’s needs were disconnected.

Due to the loss of power, there was an emergency start of two diesel generators of the safety systems. This was to ensure that the fuel cooling pumps could continue to operate.

“Later, the ZNPP staff discovered an opportunity to establish a power supply for power unit No. 6, to meet its needs from the bus system of power units in the plant. The diesel generators of the sixth power unit were switched to standby mode and turned off.”
