Russian strikes on dams did not stop the offensive of Ukrainian military

Russia confirmed its status as a terrorist state by attacking civilian infrastructure, including dams on rivers in September.

British Ministry of Defence reminded that in mid-September, the Russian army launched missile strikes on the Pechenihy Dam on the Siverskyi Donets River in the Kharkiv Region, and on the Karachuniv Dam near Kryvyi Rih.

“Ukrainian forces are advancing further downstream along both rivers. As Russian commanders become increasingly concerned about their operational set-backs, they are probably attempting to strike the sluice gates of dams, in order to flood Ukrainian military crossing points.”

In addition, the British Ministry of Defence believes that these attacks are unlikely to have caused significant obstacles to Ukrainian operations.

“The attacks are unlikely to have caused significant disruption to Ukrainian operations due to the distance between the damaged dams and the combat zones.”
