Russian soldiers shot the evacuation column in Ukraine’s south

The Mayor of Melitopol said on the air of the national telethon that the Russian military fired on an evacuation column in the “grey zone” in order to intimidate civilians trying to leave for the territory controlled by Ukraine from the occupied Zaporizhzhia region (south of Ukraine) on August 29, 2022.

“Yesterday [on August 29 – ed.], Russians deliberately allowed a very large number of cars from Vasylivka and in the “grey zone” shot a convoy of our civilian residents. At a distance of 50-100 meters from the cars, there were explosions, people were forced to jump out of cars, hide under cars.”

According to the Mayor, there were no casualties. Ivan Fedorov added that occupiers are trying to intimidate people in such a way that they are afraid to leave, because, after Russian-occupied Melitopol, people go to Vasylivka, from where they can enter the territory controlled by Ukraine.

Earlier, it became known that Russian troops began to capture everyone who had Ukrainian symbols in occupied Melitopol.
