“The base of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society was hi by a shell. It happened this Monday [August 29 – ed.]. The car and the building were damaged. Fortunately, our colleagues were not injured,” Mardini said.
According to Director General, this once again reminds the parties of the conflict about the possible and serious consequences of hostilities in the city.
An employee of the Red Cross Society in Ukraine, Taras Logginov said that the base was used to accommodate a team that had been evacuating the injured and sick since April 18. Volunteers also delivered food and hygiene kits, tarpaulin and polyethylene for house repairs, blankets, medicines and drinking water to residents.
“On all maps, this place is marked as the Red Cross House. The Russian command knew that there were no military facilities either on the base itself or in the vicinity,” the organization’s employee clarified.
