“During the week, fires broke out regularly in the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Dnipro regions as a result of Russian shelling. Cereal crops were damaged. Attacks on agricultural territories carry the threat of world hunger and are prohibited by Art.54(2) of the Geneva Conventions.”
The Russian aggressors are acting contrary to the binding international documents: residential buildings and civil infrastructure are being destroyed, and civilians are dying.
According to the Deputy Minister, the damage to the agriculture of Ukraine from a full-scale invasion already amounts to 4 billion 300 million dollars.
In addition, a food shortage is purposefully provoked — the aggressor blocks the export of Ukrainian grain for the 2021 harvest and purposefully destroys grain crops. According to the UN, hunger can affect more than 300 million inhabitants of the planet.
