The situation remains tense in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine, as Russian army units may launch an attack at any moment.
National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) information and analytical center spokesman Andriy Lysenko said this at a briefing on Thursday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The situation in the ATO area remains threatening. The probability remains high of the intensification of military actions by the Russian armed forces and bandits in the priority areas for the Russian side within the northern districts of Luhansk region and the southern districts of Donetsk region,” he said.
Lysenko said that the purpose of these actions was to expand the territory controlled by Russian terrorists.
