Russia shelled energy facilities in the east and south of Ukraine

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko noted that energy objects were damaged in the east and south of Ukraine due to the Russian missile attack on December 16, 2022.

“Another wave of massive Russian shelling of the energy infrastructure. Energy facilities have already been damaged both in the east and in the south of Ukraine. Shelling continues. A drop in generation volumes is possible. There will be emergency power outages,” explained the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko.

Herman Halushchenko emphasized that as soon as it would possible, the energy companies would restore the energy supply.

In the morning on December 16, 2022, an air alert was announced across Ukraine due to a massive Russian missile attack. The sounds of explosions are reported, in particular in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia. As of now, Kharkiv and the region are completely without electricity. There is no electricity supply in the Poltava region as well.
