Russia damaged or destroyed more than 11,200 houses in the Luhansk region

The Luhansk Regional Military Administration reported that more than 11,000 houses and 400 enterprises were damaged or completely destroyed by Russian shelling in the Luhansk region (east of Ukraine) as of October 16, 2022.

“According to preliminary data, at least 167 educational institutions, 18 sports facilities, 6 social welfare facilities, 64 health care facilities, 115 cultural facilities, 37 administrative buildings, 7 health centers, 7 railway stations, and 48 facilities were damaged due to constant shelling and bombing of the Russian Federation. Residential buildings suffer the most from the Russian artillery shelling and bombings. According to approximate estimates, 3,188 multi-story buildings and 8,100 private estates were partially or completely destroyed.”

The Luhansk Regional Military Administration also noted that it was impossible to conduct economic activities in the territory of the region. The property of 3,408 enterprises, including 479 industrial complexes are under Russian occupation and are subject to significant damage and destruction. Economic losses are calculated in billions of hryvnias.

“According to the processed data of the online survey introduced by the regional state administration of only 463 economic entities, the estimated total amount of direct losses due to Russian aggression (the value of assets that were destroyed/damaged) is 6.4 billion hryvnias.”
