Russia boosts gas transit via Ukraine

Transit of natural gas through the Ukrainian gas transport system (GTS) in January-April 2017 increased by 23%, or to 30.5 billion cubic meters year-over-year, according to the press service of Ukrtransgaz.

In April, 7.3 bcm was delivered to European consumers, which is 31.5% more than reported for the same period last year, reads the report by the operator of Ukraine`s GTS.

Currently, more than 254.3 million cubic meters of gas is transported for the needs of the European consumers daily.

”Traditionally, Ukrtransgaz fulfills the demands of counterparties in full and in due time, despite the Russian side`s non-compliance with the contractual pressure,” the company`s press service said, adding that as of the morning of May 3, pressure at Sudzha, the Russian gas measuring station on Ukraine border, is 57.7 atm. instead of the contractual 60 atm.

As UNIAN reported, the transit of natural gas via the Ukrainian GTS increased by 23% in 2016 compared to 2015, up to 82.2 bcm. In February of this year, Ukraine increased the flow of gas through its territory by 30%, up to 7.6 bcm.
