Russia amasses 100,000 troops in Donbas, Crimea, Ukraine border – Lysenko

Russia has amassed some 100,000 soldiers in occupied Crimea and Donbas as well as along the eastern border with Ukraine, Andriy Lysenko, administration spokesman for Anti-Terrorist Operation issues, said on Radio Liberty.

”There are some 40,000 troops in Donbas along the northern border and nearly 50,000-60,000 in the east. This group constantly changes and evolves. Three military districts are involved. There is a transfer of airborne units, as they are deployed along the border and in Crimea. There is movement of military equipment, and some 700 Russian tanks are now in occupied Donbas,” Lysenko said.

”Any escalation of the conflict will have bloody consequences both for Russia and our side, so the Russian aggressor is weighing its strength. It is conducting a very thorough reconnaissance,” he added.
