“This morning, the broad-gauge railway to the port of Galati was opened. The work carried out by CFR Infrastructure began on June 6 and was completed almost a month before the estimated deadline,” the Minister noted.

According to him, starting from today, trains going from Ukraine through Moldova will be able to unload grain directly in the port of Galati, without the need for transshipment at the border. Thus, Ukrainian grain will be delivered to the port faster, reloaded on a barge or stored in a bunker with a capacity of 25,000 tons.

Romania has already facilitated the export of more than 1 million tons of Ukrainian grain since the war began.

It is noted that due to the Russian blockade of the Black Sea, Ukraine cannot export grain through its ports. So part of it is taken by train to Romania, from where the grain already goes by sea to other countries.
