Russian soldiers stationed in the occupied city of Horlivka deliberately destroyed their artillery system to protest a theft of their phones and rough treatment from commanders, that`s according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Ukraine Today reports.
In a Facebook posting the Ukrainian intelligence officials said Russian soldiers, dispirited by a long-term stay on combat positions, lack of financial support and ill-treatment, intentionally burned down their BM-21 Grad – a truck-mounted 122 mm multiple rocket launcher, according to Ukraine Today.
The Russian servicemen were reportedly indignant when their personal smartphones vanished and commanders explained it as security measures. Those who actively protested were locked up.
