Retail trade turnover in Ukraine grew by 3.1% in January-August 2016, as compared to the same period last year (in constant prices), amounting to UAH 731.6 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.
The highest retail turnover growth was recorded in Lviv and Kyiv regions – by 7.7% and 7.3%, to UAH 43.3 billion and UAH 38.5 billion, respectively. The steepest decline in trade turnover was reported in Donetsk region – by 5.9% to UAH 24.9 billion, the statistics service said.
Retail turnover in the city of Kyiv rose by 3.9% in the period under review, to UAH 116 billion.
The data is calculated excluding the temporarily-occupied territory of the Russian-annexed Crimea and part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone in eastern Ukraine.
As UNIAN reported earlier, retail trade turnover in Ukraine in 2015 shrank by 20.7% from 2014, to UAH 1.02 trillion, according to the State Statistics Service.
