“The United Kingdom was one of the first to come to Ukraine’s aid. And today I’m in London to personally thank the British people for their support and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for his leadership,” wrote Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

This is Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s first visit to Great Britain and his second abroad since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In December 2022, the Ukrainian head of state visited the USA.

Earlier, the British government announced the details of this visit.

“President Zelenskyy will visit the UK today to meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and address parliament as the UK steps up its delivery of lethal aid into the country, and prepares to train fighter jet pilots and marines,” clarified the British government.

The leaders will also discuss approaches to UK support for Ukraine, such as the immediate arrival of military equipment to help counter Russia’s spring offensive, and stepping up long-term support.

According to the British government, Rishi Sunak, during the talks with the President of Ukraine will also propose to provide Ukraine with long-range weapons.

“This will disrupt Russia’s ability to continually target Ukraine’s civilian and critical national infrastructure and help relieve pressure on Ukraine’s frontlines,” added the government of Great Britain.
