Poroshenko to create constitutional commission on decentralization next week

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has stressed the importance for Ukraine of the Polish experience on the decentralization of power and announced his intention to initiate the establishment of a constitutional commission for the introduction of constitutional amendments on the decentralization of power.
He said this at a meeting with the public Lublin on Thursday as part of his official visit to Poland, the presidential press service reported.
“Next week I will propose creating a constitutional commission, whose main goal should be the introduction in 2015 of amendments to the constitution regarding the decentralization of power,” he said.
Poroshenko said that one of the results of his visit to Poland was the discussion of the opportunity for students from Donetsk and Luhansk to study in Lublin. About 3,000 Ukrainian students currently study in Lublin, and several cultural and educational centers for Ukrainian and Polish NGOs are operating.
