Poroshenko thanks Nazarbayev for supporting Ukraine

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has thanked Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev at a meeting in Minsk for his support for Ukraine in its struggle for independence and sovereignty, the Ukrainian leader’s press service has reported.
“I know your strong principled position. I thank you for your decisive actions and support in protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and establishing peace,” Poroshenko said.
He said that he has high hopes for today’s meeting in the EU-Ukraine-Customs Union format aimed at restoring peace in the Donbas.
Nazarbayev noted that he was very concerned about the situation in the Donbas. In his opinion, it is necessary to make every effort for its speedy settlement.
“I think it’s important that you talk face to face with Putin,” he said.
In his opinion, it’s a crucial time for Russia and Ukraine, because “this bloodshed cannot last any longer.”
Nazarbayev noted that the situation would be resolved when both sides support the compromise. “We must find common ground to end the war,” he said.
He also noted that Kazakhstan was ready to support Ukraine by providing humanitarian aid under the auspices of the Red Cross.
