Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on ensuring the rights and freedoms of internally displaced persons (No. 4490a-1), the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state signed the document at a meeting with citizens who were forced to leave their homes because of the situation in Donbas.
“Europe has not seen in decades such a number of displaced persons and the problems faced by Ukraine. Of course, we have to find and offer solutions to the problems of each person in order to help them live through these difficult times,” he said.
According to him, the new law will protect people from discrimination and forced return.
