Poroshenko orders tightening of security at strategic facilities

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has ordered the tightening of security at strategic facilities following the military and economic exercises “Concentration – 2014,” the presidential press office has reported.
“The head of state set a number of priority tasks, first and foremost, ordered the tightening of security at strategic and socially important facilities,” reads the statement.
Poroshenko heard a report by the defense minister and the National Security and Defense Council secretary. He summarized the results of the exercises, noting that they showed there were problems with coordination and cooperation that must be corrected.
The president drew the attention of the leadership of the regions to the need for closer coordination with the police and the Security Service of Ukraine.
“The fundamental task of all regional leaders in the holding of organizational events together with the Defense Ministry and NGOs to improve the coordination of actions on the protection of the population,” Poroshenko said.
The military and economic exercises “Concentration – 2014” lasted for three days and were devoted to improving the management of defense in a particular period.
The exercises were attended by the Defense Ministry, the General Staff, the Cabinet of Ministers, central executive government agencies, the National Security and Defense Council, and the heads of regional state administrations.
