The Bloc of Petro Poroshenko will have the greatest number of seats in parliament according to preliminary calculations of the results of voting in a multi-member district and single-member electoral districts.
Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman Mykhailo Okhendovsky said this at a briefing on Saturday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.
“The overall result of political parties in the elections consists of the number of seats it received in the multi-member electoral district and single-member electoral districts,” Okhendovsky said.
Thus, he said, given the election results on party lists and voting at single-member constituencies, the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko will have most MPs in the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation – 132, the People’s Front – 82, and Samopomich Union – 33.
In addition, Okhendovsky said, the Opposition Bloc will have 29 deputies in the new parliament, the Radical Party – 22, and Batkivshchyna – 19.
The CEC chairman also said that those who were elected MPs at single-member constituencies were six members from Svoboda, one each from Serhiy Tihipko’s Strong Ukraine, Zastup, Right Sector, Volia and 96 self-nominees.
