Poland joined the investigation of cases of genocide in Ukraine

The National Prosecutor’s Office of Poland informed on April 17, 2023, that Poland will investigate cases of genocide in Ukraine according to the results of the meeting in Vilnius of the members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) for the investigation of serious international crimes in Ukraine.

“On April 14, 2023, in Vilnius, the First Deputy Prosecutor General – National Prosecutor Dariusz Barski signed an agreement under which the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) will investigate cases of genocide that may occur in connection with Russia’s attack on Ukraine,” reported the National Prosecutor’s Office of Poland.

Within the framework of the Polish Prosecutor’s Office, the case is being investigated by an investigative team consisting of prosecutors from the Mazowieckie Branch Division of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor’s Office in Warsaw, officers of the Internal Security Agency and the Police. The work of the group is coordinated by the First Deputy Prosecutor General National Prosecutor Dariusz Barski. The Polish investigation into the case of Russian aggression against Ukraine was opened on February 28, 2022.

“Polish prosecutors are in ongoing contact with the Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office and other members of the joint international investigation team. As part of regular meetings, the results of the team members’ work and planned next activities are discussed,” added the National Prosecutor’s Office of Poland.
