Plan on implementation of Association Agreement with EU to be approved in September

The Cabinet of Ministers will approve a national plan on the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in September 2014.
Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said this at a government meeting on Wednesday, the government portal reported.
“This is a step-by-step plan – on which laws, resolutions, regulations and orders of the concerned ministry should be submitted and adopted, and when. This is a concrete action plan on the implementation of a strategic reform plan,” he said.
He said that implementing the Association Agreement with the EU and obtaining a visa free regime with the European Union were challenges facing Ukraine as part of the European integration component of the action plan “Rebuilding the Country.” By the end of September Ukraine has to ratify the agreement, and the state apparatus should completely refocus on its implementation.
In addition, Yatseniuk, by the end of the year Ukraine should set up joint bodies on cooperation with the EU. “These are working bodies at the level of the government of Ukraine and the European Commission, as well as at the level of ministries and European commissioners, as envisaged in the agreement,” he said.
As part of the plan Ukraine should also start production of biometric passports for visa-free travel to the EU.
