PACE renews sanctions against Russian delegation

PACE members voted for the resolution No. 13685, renewing sanctions against the Russian delegation till the April session of the Assembly, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
160 PACE members voted for the resolution, 42 members voted against, 11 abstained.
Thus, PACE suspended the voting rights of the Russian delegation and its right to be represented in the Assembly’s leading bodies.
In addition, the Assembly also suspended the right of its Russian members to be appointed as a rapporteur, to observe elections or to represent the Assembly in other Council of Europe or external bodies.
However, the Assembly said it would review the sanctions in April if Russia made marked and measurable progress towards de-escalation of the situation in Ukraine, Georgia and Transnistria, occupied by its troops or pro-Russian forces.
