Oettinger hopes today’s trilateral meeting on gas issues will be final

European Commission Vice-President Gunther Oettinger has said he hopes that today’s tripartite consultations on gas issues between Ukraine, the EU and Russia will be final and that the sides will reach an interim agreement.
He said this before bilateral meetings with Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan and representatives of the Russian delegation, after which trilateral talks are due to begin, Ukrinform’s correspondent in Brussels reported.
He said he hoped that the last trilateral meeting would be held today.
Oettinger noted that the common desire of the parties was to achieve an interim decision for the winter period, which will ensure the security of gas supply by the end of March 2015.
