On January 26, Norway decided to join the international transfer of tanks to Ukraine.
“Soon after that, it was decided that Norway would transfer eight Leopard 2 tanks and up to four armored recovery vehicles to Ukraine. The tanks are already in place, and personnel training is underway in Poland, under the auspices of the EU,” informed the Armed Forces of Norway.
The tanks were transported using the An-124 transport plane.
In addition to the transferred eight tanks and armored recovery vehicles, Norway also provides funds for ammunition and spare parts.
“Now we consider it absolutely correct to support Ukraine. It is important for Norwegian and European security that Russia does not win in its aggression against Ukraine,” Norwegian Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.
In addition, Ukrainian specialists in medicine, shooting and driving are being trained in Norway. These exercises will be conducted in Norway in several rounds during 2023.
Norway’s contribution to the training of the Ukrainian military in Great Britain started in 2022 and will continue in 2023.
