Thus, 51 Russian oligarchs and 24 representatives of the Russian occupation authorities in the occupied territories of Ukraine came under the sanctions of New Zealand. New restrictions were also placed on the import and export of luxury goods like caviar, Russian vodka, and New Zealand wine, as well as oil and gas.

For example, Russian billionaire Oleksandr Abramov, co-founder and former executive director of the multinational metallurgical and mining company Evraz, was sanctioned. Abramov and members of his family will be banned from entering the country. Including their planes and ships will be prohibited from entering the airspace and ports of New Zealand.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nanai Mahuta, “extensive consultations” were conducted before the decision regarding the billionaire was made.
