The Minister of Defense of the Netherlands Kajsa Ollongren noted on March 14, 2023, during her visit to Ukraine, that by 2025, Ukraine would receive two minehunters of the Alkmaar-class from the Kingdom of the Netherlands for demining the waters of the Black Sea.

“Today, in the port city Odesa [south of Ukraine – ed.], I announced that the Netherlands intends to provide two minehunters to Ukraine. Belgium and the Netherlands will start training Ukrainian crews for these vessels this year. This initiative will contribute to maritime security in the Black Sea,” tweeted the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands.

In addition, Kajsa Ollongren noted that she saw the destruction caused by Russian shelling in Mykolaiv (a city in the south of Ukraine).

“In the Ukrainian port of Mykolaiv I witnessed the destruction caused by Russian attacks. But also the bravery and strength of the Ukrainian people. Our support helps. It keeps spirits up. It makes a difference,” added Kajsa Ollongren.

The Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands also said that Ukraine would get drone detection radar systems, M3 bridge and ferrying system that allow rapid bridge construction.
