More than 5,000 Russian troops are surrounded by Ukrainian forces in the Donetsk region

The Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration Serhii Haidai noted that Russian soldiers tried to break through or surrender in the city of Lyman in the Donetsk region, where they are surrounded by Ukrainian troops as of October 1, 2022.

More than 5,000 Russian soldiers are surrounded in Lyman in the Donetsk region (east of Ukraine).

“Russian military personnel based in Lyman appealed to their leadership to withdraw but were refused as of the morning of October 1. More than 5,000 Russian military personnel are surrounded.”

Also, the Head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration emphasized, that almost all escape ways or routes of transporting ammunition were blocked by Ukrainian troops.

Earlier, the American Institute for the Study of War reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would retake Lyman in the next 72 hours.
