More than 153,000 residential buildings were destroyed and damaged in Ukraine

Sergiy Tsivkach, Executive Director of UkraineInvest (Investment Promotion Office of the Government of Ukraine) reported on March 30, 2023, that during the year of the war, as of February 2023, more than 153,000 residential buildings were destroyed or damaged in Ukraine by Russian troops.

According to Sergiy Tsivkach, the amount of damage caused by Russian soldiers to Ukrainian infrastructure, as well as residential and non-residential facilities, exceeds $143 billion.

“And the largest share in the total amount of direct losses falls on residential buildings (37.3%, or $53.6 billion) and infrastructure – 25.2% ($36.2 billion). The lost business assets are estimated at at least USD 11.3 billion,” said the Executive Director of UkraineInvest.

The total area of damaged or destroyed residential properties exceeds 83 million square meters, which is 8.2% of the country’s total housing stock. At the same time, the area of buildings that were completely destroyed or severely damaged is 65 million square meters.
