Macron wants to evacuate people from Mariupol together with Greece and Turkey

French President Emmanuel Macron will discuss with Putin the terms of an “exceptional humanitarian operation” concerning the evacuation of civilians in Mariupol.

“We had very specific discussions with the mayor of Mariupol and the Ukrainian authorities. Then we will negotiate with the Russian side,” he said.

According to Macron, the operation will be carried out with Turkey and Greece representatives to evacuate civilians from the besieged city.

During a telephone conversation between Macron and Putin, France will demand that Russia lift the siege of Mariupol so that civilians wishing to leave the town can be evacuated, and humanitarian aid will be sent to those who choose to stay there.

“We are organizing everything in the best possible conditions. In this city with a population of over 400,000 people, another 150,000 people live in catastrophic conditions,” Macron said.
